Cladstone Slate

Flexible slate veneer is manufactured using a process which strips or peals each micro thin layer of a metamorphic slate slab; rather than cutting from a solid block. Thin veneers (from 0.5 to 2mm thick) of slate are pulled away from the original stone slabs by adhering a thin layer of fibreglass/polyester resin composite backing.

Slate Veneer is a highly sustainable building material because it only uses the top layer of slate, this means that a thick slab can reveal hundreds of layers of slate while leaving much of the stone for future generations. Gone are the hassles of transporting, handling and applying uncut stones and the intensive labour required. With Cladstone interiors and exteriors of homes and buildings can be adorned with unique sandstone or slate material without the limitations that ordinary, uncut stones afford.

Furthermore, Cladstone can be applied to almost any surface, including MDF, fibreglass, steel, cement, cement blocks and many others by using special adhesives. Cladstone also gives interior designers and architects the freedom to design interiors and exteriors without having to worry about most of the logistical and technical problems that accompany uncut stones.
